We study this counterintuitive phenomenon in the slow-driving regime of an open quantum system, where we name it Near-Equilibrium Anomalous Tradeoff (NEAT). We establish necessary conditions for its occurrence and show its underlying geometric origin. While NEAT is reminiscent of the well-known Mpemba effect, the two phenomena are distinct in general.
