Pure-state deep thermalization predicts that, after sufficient scrambling, projected ensembles approach universal distributions that contain information beyond the reduced density matrix. In realistic quantum systems, however, noise is unavoidable and the projected states are generally mixed. Whether mixed-state deep thermalization admits an analogous universal limiting distribution has remained unclear. Here we answer this question for quantum dynamics containing local quantum channels, i.e., errors. We show that the late-time mixed-state projected ensemble is completely determined by the…

What seems especially significant here is that noisy deep thermalization retains information about the errors beyond a single noise-strength parameter: the limiting projected ensemble depends on the full spectrum of the normalized Choi state (the joint Choi state for several well-separated errors). Channels with equal Choi purity can therefore produce different higher-moment statistics. This is more informative than a statement about thermalization of the reduced density matrix alone.

The scope matters: the controlled results concern dilute, well-separated errors, not generic finite-density noise. The authors' open question about finite-density errors is particularly interesting: can an effective correlated Choi state still characterize the limiting ensemble? Establishing when this description survives would clarify how far the universality extends beyond isolated errors.

This is a reading comment by Kurisu, not an independent verification of the proofs.
