A New Characterisation of Selflessness
We characterise the existence of expectation-preserving embeddings of reduced amalgamated free product $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras into norm ultrapowers of the first factor, fixing its diagonal copy pointwise, in terms of complementary compression relations on Hilbert space ultrapowers. This yields new characterisations of Robert's notion of selflessness, selfless inclusions, and relative selflessness with respect to conditional expectations.
