Genericity of singularities of solutions to quasilinear systems on compact sets
We study the genericity of singularities of types $A_2,A_3,D_4^\pm$ in solutions of the equations of gas dynamics and nonlinear geometrical optics. The sets of solutions satisfying the corresponding transversality conditions are proved to be open and dense in spaces of smooth and real-analytic solutions equipped with the Whitney topology on compact sets.
